We’ve done it again folks! The Roadhouse has found a way to make Calgary’s hottest nightclub even better, and on the Labour Day Long-weekend no less. It’s a hot, old school, in your face toga party!

We know you’ll take care of your to-do list during the day – Bed Bath and Beyond in the morning, mow the lawn in the afternoon, who knows, just wing it after that. Probably a nice little day planned out for yourself. That’s fine Tank, but come night time, you ours!!!

We’ve got it all worked out for you and we’ve made it unique. It’s Calgary’s only Toga Party, at least Calgary’s only Toga Party that matters, and we want you down here in your best bad ass toga outfit. Everyone’s doin’ it, and everyone’s lovin’ it!

We’ll make it worth your while too. Come on down to The Roadhouse anytime before 11:00pm in your toga and we’ll slip you right on past the line and we’ll spot ya’ the cover charge. In addition, the best toga will win tickets to the Stamps-Eskies Labour Day Classic on Sept 6.

If you can’t find a toga then you better at least get yourself on the guest list (book online). If you do plan on coming down then maybe spice up your night with a VIP Room or Bottle Service.

We’ve slowed our pace down to the normal week-to-week speed of light now that our 10 days of Stampede insanity is over (for now). We want you to collect your bearings but believe us when we say, there’s no such thing as too much fun.

We’ve got something special on-tap for you in exactly 7 short days from now, the Backstreet Boys official concert afterparty! This is one of those unique events that only The Roadhouse can swing. The Backstreet Boys will be kickin’ their thing at the Saddledome on Sunday August 8, then all hell will break lose and everyone will be lookin’ for somethin’ to do. Guess where everyone goes? The Roadhouse!

Thursday Nights: It’s Threesome Thursday’s and the best Ladies Night on the planet! Swing down with your gal-pals for the experience that only The Roadhouse can le,gally offer. We’ll get you in the mood with $8.25 triples, or $4.25 warm-ups, plus we have contests running all night for the loudest and rowdiest chicks.

Friday Nights: Attention Student’s! Ya’, we know schools out for most but you’re still technically a “student” right, right.  Every Friday night we have no-line and no-cover for students – just bring your Roadhouse Student VIP Card at the door, which you can easily get from The Roadhouse anytime by the way. Haven’t got a Roadhouse Student VIP Card yet? Okay, try your regular student ID at the door, it’ll probably work.

Saturday Nights: It’s our Legendary Saturday Night House Party! There’s no other way to put it, this is flat-out the hottest night out that can be had indoors. You’ve worked all week, you’re boss is a dick, and teachers suck, your classes bore you to tears — time to cut loose and re-energize with us.

Sunday Nights: Uncensored Sunday’s is the best Industry Night in town. We know the entire bar and restaurant industry works hard on the weekends to make the $$$$ and therefore have to miss out on the hotness of The Roadhouse – no you don’t! Sunday is your Saturday and we’ve got some tricks up our sleeve to make it worth your while. Once you’re down here it’ll feel just like Saturday night!

I’m busy here plugging away trying to get Stampede hiring and schedules done. I’m still getting used to the differences, both subtle and not so subtle, between being a doorman and a manager. Eight years ago when I started out as a doorman at The Palace on Stephen Ave. I had no idea I’d be managing The Roadhouse today. Everything from hiring, scheduling, the random problems that come up during the night, the day meetings, it’s all still new. But it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some days when being a doorman at The Back Alley or the short-lived Spin Nightclub were way easier. But they weren’t nearly as fun or rewarding. The staff we have here at The Roadhouse are unbelievable. From little Scotty to Ry Bakes and Bradsaw. Everybody here is super rad. And I don’t think I’ve ever been so comfortable getting kissed sensually on the neck by another man as I am now (the Ultimate Fighter’s Nick Ring). It’s still pretty damn weird though. Ha ha ha!

I can hear Aidan (Shady A) working on booking limos for ladies night behind me right now. He’s calling the lucky girls who had their name drawn for a complimentary limo package on us for ladies night.

Jordan and Joel are hard at work getting our annual golf tournament ready to go for this Monday. I can’t golf this year but last year’s was fun as hell. Myself, Brad Cardinal, Cregg from Pita Pit on 17th Ave, and Matty Long were the best damn ragtag team of golfers that ever hit Silver Wing. I shotgunned my first ever beer that day, Brad didn’t have any clubs so he used the complimentary left handed wedge for every shot (even though he’s right handed), and watching Matty chase the golf part with his pants around his ankles will forever be a memory. Maybe not a good one, but a memory.

By far the highlight of the night though was seeing all the sexy ladies that showed up and dressed the part for the night. From our perspective in the DJ booth there is nothing better than seeing the crowd involved in our weekly themes and going off to the music we play (by the way, bravo for going off to Sinatra…that definitely made my night). While each and every night in the booth is a blast, long weekend Sundays are by far my favorite nights because I know that everyone is down to have a gong show party night, and that’s just the way we like it. Only one small piece of advice to give out after the night was over though…Jordan Wanner…keep your shirt on! Rave on Calgary!

The issue for some, city alderman seems to be that party buses represent an undesirable service for Calgarians. Not just those taking part in a night on the town inside the safety of a party bus, but also for those on the streets of Calgary.

Okay, so we’re going to try and come off as objective as possible here. The Roadhouse is always sponsoring party buses for various events and functions, in partnership with The Party Machine. Since 2002 we have been organizing, coordinating, and running party bus events with The Party Machine and they have proven to be a great way to get people together to enjoy a night out, with the safety of a designated driver runnin’ the show.

We’ve run everything from stags, to staggett’s, to birthdays, to corporate functions with the central focus being a safe, clean, social way to transport people from one place to another. It’s safe for the people on the bus, and it keeps people who have been drinking off the streets.
